Motorized Dampers
A motorized damper controlled system is used to control the temperature in two rooms. Only one room per cycle will be controlled using only one air handler. There are two zone dampers connected to the supply air and two dampers connected to the return air. One set of dampers will be connected to Room 1 (Supply and Return) which will be normally open; the other set of dampers, normally closed will be connected with ductwork for Room 2.
When Room 1 is on the supply and return dampers will be open and the room will become energized. When Room 2 is on the zone dampers for Room 1 will close and Room 2 will open. Room 2 thermostat will energize and Room 1 thermostat will be de-energized.
Zone damper kit consists of:
(4) Zone Dampers
(1) Top Plennum
(1) Bottom Plennum
(1) Switchover Control
(1) Digital Thermostat
The Switchover Control has a timer plug to allow control of switchover times.
Advantages of one air handler with dampers:
- Can have Co2
in each room set at different amounts
- Separate room temperature settings when rooms are flipped
- Only 1 (one) Condenser is outside
- Less expensive than two complete systems
Disadvantages:
- Only "ON"
room is controlling the temperature and air flow. "OFF" room has
no control.
